Gibson Practice Chanters are
musical instruments in their own right. Pitched to 466 Hz (B
flat), these instruments are known for their brilliant
musical tone and exceptional balance from the bottom hand to
top hand.
Consequently, they
teach a correct and balanced pipe scale right from the
beginning. Too many practice chanters are either pitched
incorrectly or are simply unpleasant to listen to. The holes
on Gibson practice chanters are spaced just as the pipe
chanter, so students learn the correct finger position from
day one.
You cannot learn on
an instrument that is not tuned properly. It is in your best
interest to invest in a quality instrument that will last
you a lifetime - such as the fully engraved solid nickel
model that is displayed here to the right!

Coca Bola is a very
musical beautiful dense tonal wood very close to African
Blackwood; Many pipers feel it is slightly sweeter in its
sound. Its beautiful rustic multi coloring makes it a very
attractive chanter that everyone will be proud to own. Yet
it is lower in cost, in comparison to African Blackwood.
Coca Bola comes from Mexico, and darkens with age.
African Blackwood (Mpingo)
comes from Africa as the name implies, it’s a very dense
wood and takes at least 80 years to grow. History has shown
that African Blackwood is the preferred and, most popular
wood for musical instruments but it is also the most
expensive, due to its high demand, and availability. All Gibson practice
chanters come with our very popular custom engineered
synthetic reed for greater quality of sound and
longevity, although these practice chanters will sound great
with most makes of reeds.
